Wastewater plant control room — lower the DO and effluent T-N is the first to slip

A central control room with the plant overview and the bioreactor on two monitors at the operator desk. The daily inflow cycle drives the number of blowers, DO and effluent quality in turn, and lowering the DO setpoint slows nitrification until the effluent T-N bar turns yellow. The values come from the sample's simulation script.

Example setup

This is an example setup, not a real plant or customer installation. The values on the screens are computed by the sample's simulation script, not data from a real plant. The control room and the plant are computer-rendered.

2 + phonescreens — overview and bioreactor (1280×720), on-call phone (390×844)
57tags — virtual only, no devices
24 minfor a day at speed 60 (an hour per minute)
4effluent bars — BOD, T-N, T-P, SS against limits

Running it

Morning peak, DO setpoint, then T-N

The control room and the plant are computer-rendered. The two monitors show the overview and bioreactor screens recorded on one timeline with the same sample running in LinkVion. Top left is a close-up of the overview's effluent quality bars and oxic-tank DO, cropped from the recording at its original size.

Example setup

Simulation clock at 60x → 600x to reach the morning inflow peak (blowers 1 → 3) → DO setpoint 2.0 → 1.0 (less air, DO drops, effluent T-N turns yellow, low-DO alarm) → back to 2.0 (three blowers, T-N recovers) · 56 s

The control room and the plant are computer-rendered for illustration. The speed and DO setpoint were changed through the tags the sample reads during recording; the video itself is not fast-forwarded. You cannot run it on this page.

On the screen

How the values chain together

  • Process flow screen (inflow to effluent)
  • Effluent limit bars with threshold colors
  • Blowers and DO
  • Simulation script with time scaling
  • Five alarms
  • On-call phone screen
  • Korean and English screens
Inflow drives the day
The script varies only the inflow along a daily curve (low at dawn, peaks in the morning and evening) and computes load, oxygen demand, blower count, DO, effluent quality, sludge and power from it. Nothing is randomized on its own, so the screen stays consistent.
DO and T-N
The DO setpoint sets the air demand. Lowering it cuts blowers and DO sags, nitrification slows and effluent T-N rises. The T-N bar turns yellow at 14 mg/L and red at 18 mg/L.
Time scaling
At speed 60 an hour passes per minute and a day in 24 minutes. Values are computed to move by the same amount per simulated time regardless of speed.
Alarms and on-call
There are five alarms: effluent T-N above 16 mg/L, BOD above 8 mg/L, DO below 1.2 mg/L, secondary clarifier blanket above 70 %, and low air. The alarm count on the screen uses the same thresholds. The sample also includes an on-call phone screen.

Limits

What this case does not show

  • Not a real plant or real measurements. The values are computed by the sample's simulation script, and the control room and plant are computer-rendered.
  • Process coefficients are simplified for illustration and must not be used as is for real plant operation.
  • There is no live version on this page, only the video. The on-call phone screen is not shown in the video.
